TROPICAL MILKWEED
Butterflies love this plant, and it provides a great food source for them! Commonly called Mexican Butterfly Weed, Blood Flower or Tropical Milkweed, these showy plants have blooms in the colors or red, orange and yellow. In addition to the butterflies being attracted to Milkweed plants, the plants are also used as a medicinal herb. The bloom season is long, lasting from early summer up until the first frost. The Tropical Milkweed herb is a tender perennial that if grown in containers can be wintered indoors for areas were there are freezing temperatures.

ENGLISH LAVENDER
Sweetly fragrant blooms and evergreen blue-green foliage! The richest in essential oils, this is one of the most aromatic Lavender plants of them all. Reaching 24 to 36 inches high, it boasts 2 1/2 inch, linear, downy leaves on strong stems. The leaves first open white, then turn a pale gray-blue-green color.  A charming biennial that blooms the first season. The abundant sprays of clear blue flowers are in an extraordinary hue and can be seen from a distance away. Easy to grow under normal garden conditions and it will re-seed if the seedpods fall on bare ground.

LUPINE ARROYO BLUE
This lovely legume thrives naturally through much of California. Blue and white clusters of blue-violet, pea-like flowers occur on 6 spikes above palm-shaped leaves. Grows well in canyons, meadows, and garden beds.  Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies.

MARIGOLD: AFRICAN CRACKERJACK
Large flowers in shades of yellow to orange add color to borders and flower gardens. The flower's strong aroma deters many garden pests.

NASTURTIUM: DWARF JEWEL MIX

A low growing border plant with bright colored flowers in yellow, orange, and red.

MAMMOTH BLACK SUNFLOWER

The giant sunflower kids love with abundant. These large single-head sunflowers with abundant nutritious black seeds.  Seeds produce giant 6-12" seed heads filled with delicious seeds.  Stalks will grow 8-10' and kids just love them.

MEXICAN SUNFLOWER
Low-Maintenance, Quick-growing annual that produces vivid red or orange-red dahlia-like flowers from mid-summer on. Its leaves are somewhat attractive, being dark green and lobed. Plants can reach up to 6 feet tall and 2 feet wide in just a few months.

YARROW
Attractive low growing grey-green fernlike foliage. Sends up 3' tall stems topped with white umbrella flowers in spring. This basal foliage tolerates foot traffic and is used as an alternative lawn. Yarrow has also been used as a medicinal herb for centuries. Blooms second spring after planting from seed.

Tip:  Plant in spring, spacing plants 1 to 2 feet apart, depending on the variety. Prepare the garden bed by using a garden fork or tiller to loosen the soil to a depth of 12 to 15 inches, then mix in a 2- to 4-inch layer of compost. Dig a hole twice the diameter of the pot the plant is in. Carefully remove the plant from its container and place it in the hole so the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface. Carefully fill in around the root ball and firm the soil gently. Water thoroughly.

ZINNIA: GIANT OF CALIFORNIA


This California heirloom dates back to 1919. Very large flowers 4-5 inches.  The plants bloom all season and make superb cut flowers. This mix contains cherry, orange, pink, purple, scarlet, yellow and white.
Zinnias are great companion plants and color to any garden.
